Labor and Employment

OLPS serves as the City's focal point for labor issues and workers in New York City. OLPS enforces key municipal workplace laws, conducts original research, and develops policies that are responsive to an evolving economy and issues affecting workers in New York City, particularly people of color, women, and immigrants.

The Labor And Employment Law Division represents the City in litigation arising out of the City's role as the employer of more than a quarter-million workers. In representing the City in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, the Division's attorneys encounter a wide range of employment issues in both individual, class actions, collective actions and client advice.
