The Center for Professional Responsibility and its entities offer numerous resources relating to ethics, professionalism, client protection, professional discipline, specialization and global initiatives. It includes Model Rules of Professional Conduct, Policy Implementation Efforts, Lawyer Regulation, Judicial Regulation, and Client and Public Protection.

Edited primarily by law professors, deans and lawyers. Editors include leading scholars and educators who are committed to providing the web source of legal news, information, commentary, and analysis for law professors, practitioners, government and nonprofit lawyers, and students in their respective fields. There are ads, however.

Before requesting a written informal opinion, please call the Ethics Hotline. New York lawyers faced with ethical questions regarding their own prospective conduct can reach the Ethics Hotline through Customer Relations at 212.382.6663.

The NYCLA Committee on Professional Ethics accepts telephone inquiries on ethics matters through its hotline service. Please contact the volunteer member listed on the website. Questions to the hotline are limited to an inquiring attorney’s own conduct under New York’s Rules of Professional Conduct. Also, the hotline does not answer questions that are being litigated in a pending legal proceeding or before a grievance committee, or questions of law. Calls to the hotline are confidential but not privileged.
