Technology

Multimedia Room (L208.1)
This room has two dedicated terminals for Alumni and guests. One terminal offers Westlaw Pro and MS Office applications.  The second terminal offers access to MS Office applications and a range of our subscription electronic databases.   These workstations also offer word processing and other applications, and accommodate network printing and downloading of documents.

Bloomberg Terminal
A standalone Bloomberg Terminal, a sophisticated tool for comprehensive corporate and financial services is available in the Multimedia Room (L208.1).

Library Computer Labs
The library has one computer lab (L205) containing Windows PCs.  These are used for classes and instructional sessions, but when free are available for Alumni use.  Due to Microsoft licensing restrictions, MS Office programs in the computer lab are no longer available to Alumni. Please use the dedicated Alumni terminals in L208.1 for MS Office applications, or log into your personal Office365 account through the browser.

  2. Open your setup and connect to the NYLS-Guest network. You’ll be brought to a registration screen.

  • Your Email Address
  • Your Full Name
  • Review the Terms of Service, then click Register

If you have multiple devices and have previously registered one device, you only need to enter your email address in the username field on the second device.

Visitor Technology Guide
The library has compiled an Alumni and Visitor Technology Services Guide that contains detailed instructions for accessing the wireless network, printing and scanning.

Printing

Printing

NYLS utilizes a system for networked printing, copying and scanning. Jobs are sent from a networked account, and once processed through the network print queue, may be retrieved from any machine on the network.

If you have an Alumni OneCard

You can print the same way you did when you were a student. Use the Account Management Center (AMC) (next to the coffee bar) to add additional funds to your OneCard Flex Fund or online through the NYLS portal.  Select the OneCard icon (left column of the portal homepage).

  • From your laptop with Mobility Print installed - send to Student-Print
  • From a web browser: Log into Outlook in your web browser. Email a PDF file as an attachment to email:nylsuniprint@nyls.edu

Guest Printing (If you do not have an Alumni OneCard)

You'll need to send your print job from the Alumni_Access networked account. Go to L208.1 (Multimedia room) and log into either machine using the Alumni_Access account.

Send a print job: Open an application to send a print job. i.e. Word. Within the application, select File, then Print, then select  Student_Print [NYLSPAPERCUT] and click Print.

Retrieve Your Print Job

Your print job has been sent from the linked Alumni account. Please ask at the Circulation Desk for the Alumni print card. Then proceed to one of the Minolta printers:

  • Room L100    2 printers
  • Room L300    1 printer
  • Student Center (5th Floor)    1 printer

Swipe the Alumni card and the print log should open up. You can then select other options and then send your print job. Please return the Alumni card to the Circulation Desk.

Scannx Book Scan Centers

The Library has 3 standalone flatbed scanners (one located in L100.1 and two located in L300). These scanners can scan books and documents into a variety of formats - searchable PDF, Word Doc, JPEG, TIFF and PNG formats in color, greyscale or black and white. Files can be saved to a USB drive, Google Drive, or sent to a smartphone (QR reader app is required). Scanning is free.
