Food and Drink Policy
Library Staff recognize that a comfortable study and research environment should have a food and drink policy that is not excessively restrictive. We also believe that some limitations are required to maintain an appropriate library environment. Accordingly, the Mendik Library has implemented the following Food & Drink policy.
Food:
- Excepting those areas listed below, foods that are not “smelly, noisy, or messy” (e.g., pizza, hamburgers, hotdogs, French fries, wings, ice cream, etc.) are generally allowed in the library.
- Patrons who bring in food that disrupts their fellow users’ study will be asked to remove it from the library.
- Patrons are expected to clean up after themselves by placing food refuse in the receptacles provided for that purpose.
- Food should not be left unattended or uncovered.
Drink:
- Excepting those areas listed below, drinks are generally permitted in the library.
- Patrons who bring in a drink that disrupts their fellow users’ study will be asked to remove it from the library.
- Open cans and uncovered cups are not permitted in the library.
- Patrons are expected to clean up after themselves by placing plastic cups and / or recyclables in the appropriate receptacles.
Areas of the Library where Food and / or Drinks are not allowed:
